First Mass Effect 3 Details Hit
Yesterday, Game Informer magazine announced that their May issue would feature Commander Shepard and Mass Effect 3 on its cover. Today, we get the first details from that issue concerning the game.
Spoilers, be forewarned!
The game will start out with Commander Shepard on trial for the events following Mass Effect 2's DLC "The Arrival". During the trial, the Reapers commence their invasion of Earth. During these events, Cerberus - the mysterious organization from ME2, is out to kill Shepard as well. These certain details make note that the Illusive Man will play a crucial role in ME3.
Your crew mates in Mass Effect 3 will be Garrus, Liara, and depending on a choice made in the original Mass Effect, Kaiden or Ashley. Wrex, Mordin, Anderson, and Legion round out the remaining crew members.
In case you don't have a Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2 save file, you will be able to watch a Mass Effect Universe comic before the actual game that shows events of the games past and you'll be able to make decisions that will affect your Mass Effect 3 adventure that way.
As usual, the game will have multiple endings and each choice regarding crew members and such will matter towards your ending.
BioWare will be ramping up the RPG elements for Mass Effect 3, but like ME2, the game will be more of the action-RPG more than your standard RPG.
Mod weapons will be used in Mass Effect 3 but the weapons used will be based on those found in Mass Effect 2. You will be able to customize your weapons using different barrels, scopes, and stocks.
Mass Effect 3 will not have multiplayer, despite earlier speculation. However, the developer told Game Informer that it will look to involve multiplayer in future Mass Effect spin-off titles.
Mass Effect 3 is out this holiday season for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
