Adjustment is handled via an adjustable floating headband system. Rather than traditional clicking notches, the suspension-style headband flexes smoothly to conform to your head shape. This makes the headset highly configurable across a broad range of head sizes, providing a comfortable, snug fit that stays securely in place without over-clamping.
Controls and Connectivity
Corsair has consolidated all physical controls, ports, and inputs onto the left earcup, keeping everything within reach of your left hand. Here, you'll find the USB charging port, the input jack for the detachable microphone, a multifunction power button, and a volume wheel.
The control scheme on the HS35 v3 takes a little getting used to, as several functions share single inputs:
● Power & Media: Holding the power button for two seconds turns the headset on or off. A single short press handles Play/Pause during media playback, while a quick double-press toggles between 2.4GHz wireless mode and Bluetooth mode.
● Volume & Mute: The volume wheel offers smooth, sliding analog control, while pressing directly down on the wheel mutes or unmutes the microphone.
● Bluetooth Pairing: Unlike most headsets that feature a dedicated pairing button, the HS35 v3 requires you to hold down the volume button to initiate Bluetooth pairing. It’s a slightly unconventional choice that takes a moment to commit to muscle memory, but works reliably once you get the hang of it.
In terms of connectivity, the HS35 v3 Wireless is remarkably versatile. It supports 2.4GHz wireless via a USB dongle, Bluetooth, and a traditional wired connection. Bluetooth pairing proved quick and painless across a wide range of devices, connecting seamlessly to mobile phones, the Nintendo Switch 2, the Steam Deck, and even smart TVs. On the 2.4GHz wireless connection, range was equally impressive, maintaining a stable signal up to approximately 20 metres away from the source before encountering any dropouts.
Microphone and Battery Life
If there is an obvious area where the HS35 v3 reveals its budget price point, it is the microphone. The detachable boom arm feels a bit cheap, and the flexible shaft doesn't always stay firmly in the position you set it to, occasionally springing back out of place.
When in position, voice capture leaves a little to be desired. While my voice came through reasonably clear for teammates on Discord, the baseline gain level is noticeably on the quiet side. Additionally, the mic lacks robust background noise isolation; during testing, it picked up the ambient clicking of my mechanical keyboard, despite using quieter hall-effect switches. It is perfectly functional for basic voice chat during casual gaming, but streamer-grade audio this is not.
Fortunately, battery life helps redeem the feature set. Corsair claims around 30 hours of playback time on a single charge, and during real-world testing across mixed wireless and Bluetooth use, the HS35 v3 met that target.
Audio Performance
While the microphone is a minor disappointment, the actual sound output of the HS35 v3 Wireless is surprisingly impressive for a budget-tier headset. In gaming scenarios, the spatial surround sound capability shines. Directional audio cues are well-separated and distinct; in fast-paced first-person shooters, picking up opponent footsteps, weapon reloads, and environmental sound cues from specific directions felt crisp and precise, giving a real competitive edge.
The audio tuning also translates remarkably well to music and movies. Low-end reproduction is punchy without muddying the mid-range. Bass-heavy tracks like Massive Attack's 'Angel' and Smashing Pumpkins' 'Edin' retain a deep, resonant rumble that you don't typically expect from a headset in this price bracket. For movie lovers, that low-end weight adds a satisfying, cinematic boom to action-heavy scenes and explosions.
Verdict
The Corsair HS35 v3 Wireless is a strong contender in the budget wireless space. While the microphone construction and ambient isolation leave room for improvement, Corsair has prioritized the elements that matter most to day-to-day use: lightweight comfort, versatile multi-platform connectivity, dependable 30-hour battery life, and surprisingly rich audio performance. If you are looking for an affordable, flexible headset that can handle FPS gaming on PC or console just as comfortably as listening to music on the go, the HS35 v3 Wireless offers excellent overall value.
